Seattle, Washington
I live in the north Seattle neighborhood Ballard, near the Ballard Locks. I work in downtown Seattle at The Defender Association, a non-profit agency that provides public defender services to King County under contract. I'm the lone geek there. Driving in Seattle is the pits, so I take the bus to work. Of course, my bus has to cross The Ballard Bridge. Big news in this neighborhood is the recent opening of the Majestic Bay Theater.

Newspaper Strike
Members of the Pacific Northwest Newspaper Guild have accepted the contract offered by Seattle Times. Workers at the Seattle P-I are already back at work. I don't know if union members are still publishing the Seattle Union Record. 		 
Seattle Parks
Seattle is a city of many parks. A favorite thing to do here in all kinds of weather is to walk/run/bike/skate around Green Lake. More challenging hiking and biking can be found at Discovery Park. And if it's distance you want, there's always the Burke-Gilman/Sammamish River Trail. A more leisurely park experience can be had at Volunteer Park, in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, home of the Volunteer Park Conservatory and the Seattle Asian Art Museum. 		 
Traffic and Weather
As I mentioned earlier, driving in Seattle is the pits. You can view current Seattle area traffic conditions. You can also monitor real time traffic cameras. It turns out that there are a huge number of weather sites. NOAA should be a good one. The City of Seattle Weather Page provides links to several other weather pages.
